Welcome to the World of Yorkipoos & Yorkies Yorkipoo
A Yorkipoo is a
Designer Dog between the Yorkie and a Toy Poodle. I personaly just love the Yorkipoo. My own special buddy is a Yorkipoo and she is the reason I am breeding these little guys. I have not found a mix that so compliments each other as much as the Yorkie and the Poodle does. Their coats can be as curly as a Poodle or as straight as the Yorkie. It can be of a coarser nature like the Poodle or silky soft like a Yorkie but either way they require regular grooming to keep their coats free of matts and tangles. Yorkie
Yorkies make wonderful companion dogs. Although they come in cute small packages, they are 100% Terrier!! They were born and bred to kill rats in the mines of Yorkshire. Their long and silky coat protected them from the coal dust in the mines. That fiesty Terrier trait remains intact although we have changed the size and looks. Their coats require regular grooming to keep them free of tangles. Bred properly, a Yorkie will be a confident dog that will be comfortable with people and other pets. I choose my parents carefully for temperament as well as looks.
The sizes of Yorkies seem to be puzzling to some. This is what I have understood it to be: The Micro-mini is a full grown dog that weighs less than 2 pounds, the teacup is a dog that grows to be 2 to 4 pounds, a toy is a dog that grows to 4 to 5 pounds and anything 6 and over is a standard. Now this is just what people and breeders have come up with as AKC states a Yorkie is to be 4 to 7 pounds which is what most of my pups fall under. Once in a while I get smaller pups. I do not purposely breed for the micro-mini Yorkie, although some of my pups do end up in that category.
